Romance languages soften a sharp difference of opinion, making it sound sweeter. With Mercury and Venus taking center stage with diplomatic Libra; information, charm, and wit win the day!
Prepare for reversals as Mercury is set to go retrograde by the end of the month.
In many ways Mercury, the trickster messenger god is ruling the month. He is the Lord of Virgo the sign at the beginning of the month. Virgo dictates details, careful consideration, health, and decisiveness. Mercury is at home here as he loves gathering information and data, but he is a quick-moving, adaptable changing, trickster with a silver tongue. As the month continues Mercury gains power, gets close to the earth, and takes a stand. Just as we get the message he changes direction to reconsider the details. He will be spending an unusual amount of time in Libra, illuminating themes of diplomacy, fairness, legality, justice. As Libra is represented by the scales, I like to envision the Egyptian myth of weighing the heart against a feather as a test of entry. Libra is an air sign and is intellectual, thinking, discriminating. However, Libra loves justice, cooperation, and fairness; weighing all options and hearing all sides. The wisdom of Libra is what the stars are calling for now. All the outer planets are in retrograde (internalized) limiting the power they usually exact on us. The personal planets of Thinking (mercury) and Desire (Venus) are beaming us with their light and influence. Venus is becoming brighter and brighter each night dazzling us with her beauty and charm. Catch her on September 9th as the sky puts on a spectacular show. Notice Mars is nowhere to be found in the sky…being extra cautious and very close to the Sun, Mars is invisible for most of the month, adding his heat and dryness to the Sun (sorry, I don’t think that portends well for the rest of fire-season).
Action and forward momentum wane for September. Instead, it is time to evaluate and consider what we desire; use cooperation and persuasiveness to move the game forward carefully, to weigh our options, and form alliances.
There is a lot to consider right now, with health concerns, economic impacts, there is a lot of uncertainty. Living in that space we have to decide what our most important desires are… and think of a plan A and B so we can move forward as best we can. Balance is the keyword this month. How can we strike the right balance, does everyone agree on what the right balance is? To be fair, we need to listen, deeply listen to all involved then make decisions based on the data. It is the harvest season after all and how work is divided up, who gets to reap the benefits, what do we plant next year are the questions in front of us right now. How did we do? What needs improvement? What excites us for the future? Where can we work together? Where do we agree? What new idea or thing do I want to learn about? The answers to these questions will provide the proper direction ahead. The fall is about reaping what we sowed, enjoying the bounty of our handiwork, and preparing for winter (or the next season, if Downunder). Flexibility and decisive, cooperative action are in. Let’s take a lesson from that Egyptian myth of Anubis weighing the heart against a feather and let our heart lead the way. Let’s soften our language, like the French, to lighten disagreements with a smile before we negotiate….Nature loves cooperation.
New Moon is September 7th, 2021 and The beautiful Harvest Full Moon is September 20 followed by the Autumn equinox on the 22cnd. And Fall begins with a slightly waning harvest moon brightening the sky.
At the very end of the month on September 27 until October 18th Mercury is in retrograde motion, causing delays, reversals and providing opportunities to rethink issues that surfaced in early September. As with all Mercury retrogrades, double-check communications, dot your I’s and cross your T’s, if you enter into a contract know it may have to be revised, allow for wiggle-room, expect delays in commerce and merchandise, tend to your car, back-up your computers, phones, and digital life. Mercury represents youngsters and schools, so keep an eye and ear on them and pay attention to what they are telling you. If something from the past seems to be bearing fruit, then Mercury is there to lend its energies.
And yes, Sun signs and Rising signs Virgo, Libra, Gemini, and Taurus will feel this month the most. Virgos might experience this retrograde in their salary and income sector, while Gemini’s (also ruled by Mercury) will tend to be inspired, creative, or experience this transit via their children. Taurians and Libras are exceptionally attractive this month. Taurus evaluate daily health routines and money, Libras evaluate self-worth, how you earn your money, and the image you present to the world. For all of us, the devil is in the details.
