Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Yoga, for instance, teaches there is more to our breath than an exchange of Oxygen, there is a subtle life-force energy called “Prana” that is received when we breathe in addition to Oxygen and air exchange. A force that creates vitality and health. This life force energy comes from sunshine, food, breath, love. We can harness and build this subtle light with yoga, fresh foods, clean air, and higher consciousness. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". It clears and balances our subtle body, known as Chakras and Auras.
Yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong build life force energy, too. Reiki is a beautiful and simple way to gather light and step into a state of grace. If you do not have any experience with yoga or meditation it is difficult to put into words. Reiki is best experienced.
